Drechslera toxic mold is considered an allergen that may cause asthma or hay-fever like symptoms in genetically sensitive people. These toxic molds are not considered pathogenic or toxigenic.
The group includes Drechslera, Bipolaris, Exserohilum, and rare Helminthosporium. These toxic molds are often found in soil, plant debris, and as a plant pathogen on the grass with a dark gray to brown coloration. It is spread like a dry spore by the wind.
For indoor growth, this fungus can grow on various surfaces.
- Allergen: coughing and sniffles
- Toxigenic: young, sick, and elderly
- Pathogenic: everyone
