Above All Else when Working With Mold Find the Leaks First!
Even if you have a general contractor figure out your puzzle (aka where the leak is) most contractors don’t have the proper equipment to do environmental testing after the fact! Not to mention most also don’t have the experience and training necessary to fix the leak.
Some contractors consider their a financial gains in finding environmental problems. We are paid to work on YOUR side and to always tell you the complete truth.
Some contractors do not understand the liabilities of tearing into properties built before the 1980s; specifically, contamination with asbestos and lead; as well as a toxic mold if the containment and engineering controls aren’t constructed and maintained correctly.
To really find your leak try this company: American Leak Detection.
Some remediation contractors are very honest. Some remediation contractors have training and equipment; others, well, not so much. Always ask to see licenses, insurance and an agreement with a complete scope of work with completion time.
