Particle characterization is an environmental labratory test that identifies contents of dust. For example, 40% of the dust samples collected from the air or from a surface may show as being “biologicals, such as organic debris, skin, starch”. Opaque particles are also shown as a percentage. This group includes submicron carbonaceous materials and ambiguous particulates. Cellulose (cotton and paper) is also shown, as are minerals.
This aluminum particle came from dust sampled in a manufacturing plant.
